NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK
FAST HALF-MILE BY DIATOMOUS. Though there was not a great deal of galloping- done at New Plymouth yesterday morning several of the visiting horses were seen in action and-a few 'interesting trials took place. As has been the case during the last fortnight the galloping took place on the course proper with the flags well out. The course was heavy after the rain overnight. A pleasing effort was' registered by Chief Marionette, who, assisted by Sporting Song over the last three, galloped six furlongs in Im. 20s. She did not appear to hit out too freely at the start but was moving in great style at the finish. She has made a quick recovery from the indisposition that was troubling her at the beginning, of the week. The first of the visitors to work was Chalice,. a compact-looking Chief Ruler filly of A. E. Neal’s team. She ran half a mile at a little better than threequarter pace. She is a likely sort but may need experience. Her stablemate Diatomous demonstrated that he is in good order by reeling off half a mile in 525. This was a fine effort considering the heavy track. Tudor, who is looking a picture, was given a good working gallop over a mile, the last five furlongs taking Im. His. He moved freely all the way. Rereatu, who looks particularly fit, ran home from the five furlongs at a "good three-quarter pace. He appeared anxious to go faster. He will be Mr. Boles’ representative in the Okoare Handicap, as Rerepai did not make the trip. He is to go south to fulfill his engagements at Riccarton. Additional riding engagements are:— G. Cameron: Kurapae, Trishna. T. Webster: Diatomous. J. McGill: Chalice: v B. H. Morris: Aga Khan, Diagano, Golden Hair, Friesland. R. Marsh: Davistock, Refresher, Amyril. W. Pascoe: Tudor. Additional ridffig engagements announced at Hawera are:— E. Duncan: Ruri, Fairfax, Lady Eka, Lady Kyra. S. Sheild: Onewhetu, Haunui. B. H. Morris: Diagano, Aga Khan.
