For the seventh year in succession the Fitzroy school committee has resumed the season’s series of Saturday night dances in the Fitzroy hall. Last season, with a more spacious hall, the dances were an outstanding success and they should be equally successful this year. The management is good, the orchestra excellent and the floor is second to none in the district. The committee is fortunate in having a band of willing and capable women helpers whose supervision of the supper arrangements is a credit to themselves and a satisfaction to the dance patrons. The proceeds of the dances are devoted to work in the interests of the school and the children.* The annual meeting of the Cape Egmont Stock Dog Trial Club will be held in the Pungarehu Hall on Thursday, instead of Monday as previously advertised.* Those desirous of consulting Miss Gwen Bett, Elizabeth Arden’s personal representative, at Scanlans next week are reminded that appointments are being rapidly booked up and that the lady’s stay in New Plymouth is restricted to four days only. The consultations on the care of the skin, etc., are gratis but clients may, if they wish, take a course of treatment at a fee to be named.* By advertisement in this issue dealers in poisons are notified that application forms for licenses are available at Post Offices. The Poisons Act, 1934, came into force on April 1 and provides for three kinds of licenses—wholesaler, storekeeper and extended storekeeper. Further particulars available on application.*
