COLD AND CHANGEABLE
WEEK-END WEATHER FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be squally and showery on the east coast and in far northern portions of the North Island, heavy showers being likely between Hawkes Bay and Bay of Plenty, but conditions will improve to-morrow, says the 4 p.m. forecast. Elsewhere the weather will be mainly fair but later becoming unsettled in south Westland and in the far south. Cold temperatures may be expected. An anti-cyclone extends from the north Tasman Sea across New Zealand, the pressure being highest off the Canterbury coast. A depression is located off East Cape, however, and one is also situated over the south-west Tasman Sea. Moderate northerly winds are probable over the southern half of the South Island and elsewhere moderate to strong southerly winds of gale force at places about Cook Strait may be expected, but soon moderating and becoming northerly tomorrow generally from Cook Strait southwards and freshening again. Seas will be rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura and elsewhere moderate, . but later rising about Foveaux Strait. \
