HAVANA KIDNAPPING
AMERICAN TECHNIQUE SPREADS.
HUGE RANSOM IN MARKED MONEY.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright
Rec. 9 p.m. Havana, April 10. The American technique of kidnapping was apparently successfully applied at Havana when kidnappers, after seizing Falla Gutierrez, the fabulously wealthy scion of a prominent sugar family, from his automobile at a Havana suburb, obtained £60,000 for his release. Mr Gutierrez immeidately fled to the United States, and the police threw cordons of guards round the homes of the other members of his family in order to protect them against threats of violence from kidnappers for having revealed the facts.
The ransom money was marked and already 20 have been arrested.
