HURWORTH FARMERS
UNION BRANCH MEETING. Claiming that the Farmers’ Union was the only organisation that represented the primary producer, Mr. H. E. Blyde, president of the North Taranaki executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, appealed to members at the annual meeting of the Hurworth branch last night to support the union in its efforts to further the interests of farmers. Mr. F. Baker presided. Farmers would get far less accomplished if it were not for the union. If the union could secure the membership it deserved it would be enabled not only to demand but also to gain justice, said Mr. Blyde. The balance-sheet of the branch disclosed a credit balance of £6 Ils lOd and it was agreed to make a gift of £1 Is to the funds of the Hurworth branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. F. Baker; vice-presidents, Mr. R. C. Henry and H. T. Allan; secretary, Mr. R. Allan; auditor, Mr. C. H. Ross; delegates to tlje provincial conference, Messrs. Henry and Baker. Supper was provided by members of the W.D.F.U.
