FRIESLAND WORKS WELL. , (By “Limited.”) ■■ The winding 'up gallops of several horses engaged to-morrow were performed on the trial grass track at Hawera on Thursday morning. The going was on the easy side but firm. R. Brough's Colossus three-year-old (Chote), going alone, galloped five fur- \ longs in lm. ss. This time was beaten- by Golden Hair (Grylls) and Friesland ' (Monkley), who did lm. 3 2-ss. Going away to a full, flying start, the pair ran the first furlongs in 3715., the last two , takipg 265. The pair finished together and Friesland showed up favourably. Harvest Moon was sent over a couple . i, qf hurdles on Wednesday, jumping- , splendidly. Yesterday he was given a ; good working gallop. Haunui (Duncan) and Passing Fancy (Cole) were companions over five furlongs, running to the three furlongs together in 38s. Passing Fancy finished two lengths in front in lm. 4 3-ss. The hurdlers, March Alone (McDonald) and Stanchion (Howe)-sprinted half a mile in 555. • Autumn Leaf (Cole) was too good for New Leaf (Cook) over four furlongs in ; 5215. ' In a working gallop over a mile Diagano (Edgecombe) and Ingenuity (Duncan) both worked attractively, running the last five furlongs without pressure in lm. 10 3-ss. Ruri (Duncan) and Onewhetu (Sheild) were also given a work-out over a round, sprinting home ‘over the last two furlongs in 26 l-ss. Both’ shaped well. Aga Khan was given half pace work. Colossal (Mills) ran the last two furlongs of a round in 28s. • Copey and Panloff were given steady work. The latter’s track work has not been very satisfactory and he may not >0: start to-morrow. Fairfax, who is very fit, was not asked to do anything strenuous yesterday. Gold Gleam and Waitaunaha are being kept going steadily at useful tasks. >.
