BUDGET OUTCOME

RESULTS VERY SATISFACTORY.

COMMENT BY FINANCE MINISTER.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, April 10.

Mr. J. G. Coates, Minister of Finance, stated to-day that the outcome of last year’s Budget was very satisfactory. Mostly as a result of receipts in the nature of windfalls which would not recur, the year closed with a substantial surplus, which materially reduced the accumulated deficits carried forward for the years 1931-32 and 1933-34. He regretted he was unable to announce any figures of revenue and expenditure at present, as the clearing of transactions for the year through the books of the Treasury had not yet been completed and when this work was finished the accounts had to be audited.
