ELTHAM COUNTY ELECTION.

CONTESTS NOT PROBABLE. A contest is improbable at the Eltham County Council elections next month It is understood that all the old councillors are again offering their services and there are no controversial issues in the district that have occasioned new candidates to take the platform.

The policy of the previous council and its administration have given general satisfaction. At present the finances show a healthy position with a credit balance of over £4OOO. .The roads are maintained in good condition and the rate is comparatively low. It is doubt* ful therefore if ratepayers will see any reason exists for a change in personnel of the council.

Elections for representatives on the Taranaki Power Board, New Plymouth Harbour Board and Hawera Hospital Board will also be held, but on these bodies, also, no change is anticipated so far and no nominations have been suggested. It is understood all the present members are again offering themselves for candidature.
