The evening comprised a musical pro* . gramme, including community singings Mr. and Mrs. Cuming were presented. with an afternoon tea waggon, cloth and/ plate, and Miss Blanchard' presented Mrs, Cuming with a Bouquet on behalf of the. Sunday 'school pupils. Mr. F. Silby, in . making the presentation on behalf of the congregation, wished the ’guests. eyeiQr. happiness in their new. ; circuit. .As<• a church officer he had been closely associated with Mr. and Mrs; Cuming and. on behalf of the church people he expressed appreciation of. what they/Wl done for the church during their : ternr atWaitara. . Mr. A. L. Wilson on behalf of the trustees, Mr.' T. Weston on. behalf of the choir and Mr. Oliver, Lepperton, oh be-, half of the lay preachers also spoke,/and particular mention was made of the great help Mr. Cuming had been to the laypreachers and of the. strong and. good in- : fluence he had exerted over the young people of the town. : - Mr. Cuming in reply thanked-the congregation for organising the evening and for the gift. They were sorry to sever, the many friendships they had' made hr the Waitara district, and he expressed the hope that the new minister, the Rev. Carr would be given the fullest support in his work. The Waitara' circuit, was difficult to manage for various reasons, but he had found his work progress, and he was satisfied the future outlook for the church was bright. He had come in contact with the young people in the' town by taking an active part in their sports and pastimes, as he hoped by so doing to increase the influence'of Christianity among them.
