MOTUNUI CRICKET DANCE

GENERAL- AND PERSONAL NEWS. Owing to counter attractions there were not so many present as usual at a dance held last Thursday night to augment funds for the Motunui Cricket Club. Victors were present from as far as Stratford, New Plymouth, Tikorangi and Urenui. Musics was supplied by Hookers’ Merrymakers. Mr. N. Edwin was master of ceremonies. Novelty dance winners were: Dutch Monte Carlo, Miss J. Hill and Mr. W. Watson; Monte Carlo, Miss Chard and Mr. R. Hill; lucky spot, Miss T. Cole and Mr. W. Davidson.

The official closing of the Motunui Tennis Club season took place at the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholls, members of the Waitara club, and Miss K. Coles, of the Inglewood club, were present. Afternoon tea hostesses were Mesdames A. Parli and D. McKenzie. Another successful evening was held in the hall on Monday night for the benefit of the Turangi Football Club. Progressive euchre was played and the prize winners were Mrs. J. Edwin 1, Miss Noela Parli 2, Mrs. Thompson (lucky number), Mrs. R. Pennington (consolation), Mr. L. R. •Skelton 1, Mr. G. Adlam 2, Mr. B. Isaacs (consolation), Mr. T. Hapi (lucky number). Dancing was to music supplied by Mr. N. Edwin, assisted by Mrs. R. Pennington. Mr. and Mrs. Esau Marsh have returned from Te Kuiti.

Miss M. Greenwood has returned after •spending a holiday at Wanganui.
