ROSEBERY MEETING RESULTS. NORD WINS PRINCIPAL EVENT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 10.30 p.m. Sydney, April 11 The Rosebery races were held to-daj in beautifully fine weather. Several Doncaster and Sydney Cup horses were in action and no fewer than four new race records were established. Results were:— t FLYING HANDICAP. First Division. THE MARNE, 8.5 (J. Munro) 1 CANE GRASS, 8.5 (Pratt) 2 EUNICE, 7.2 (Britt) : 3 Eleven started, including Norman Conquest. Won by a neck, a length between second and third. Time, Im. 131 s, a race record. Second Division. TURBINE, 8.7 (Pratt) 1 GOLDEN GATE, 8.5 (Marsden) 2 PRINCE POMBAL, 8.0 (Britt) 3 Eleven started. Won by a head; a length and a half between second and third. Time, Im. 14s. ROSEBERY HANDICAP. NORD, 7.4 (Parr) 1 LIMYRIS, 8.4 (McCarten) 2 MILANTHEON, 7.5 (Maher) 3 Fifteen started, including the Sydney Cup candidate Broad Arrow, who nearly came down entering the straight, gnd Miss Nbttava, who ran soundly. Limyris tried to win all the way and was beaten only by a short head with Milantheon a head away third. Time, 2m. Bs, a race record. Frimsel was unplaced •in the First Division of the Flying Welter Handicap of six and three-quarter furlongs which was won by Double Dutch in the race record time. of Im. 2345. Allugo, who won the Novice Handicap of 1| miles in 2m. 9Js., also established a race record. SMASH ON RACECOURSE. Rec. 11 p.m. Sydney, April 10. A smash at the Ascot course on March 27 was inquired into by the A.J.C. stewards to-day. Jockey, D. Lightfoot, gave evidence that his mount The Motorist was the first to fall, owing to its foreleg failing, which was not due to any interference or defect in the track. The stewards found accordingly.
DEAD HEAT AT ASCOT. Rec., 11 p.m. Melbourne, April 10. The main event at the Ascot races to-day resulted: — ASCOT HANDICAP. NELLIE THRICE, 8.6 (Box) 4 VERBATIM, 8.3 (Wilson) 4 SHINING GOLD, 8.4 (Percival) 3 jDead-heat for first. Eight started, including Irish Chieftain". Two lengths between the dead-heaters and the third horse. Time, Im. 39Js.
