DUCKLINGS AS PRIZE
ARE THEY CLASSED AS TROPHY?
BOWLING CLUB’S DISCUSSION.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, April 9.
“Can ducklings be regarded as trophies?” This question was lengthily discussed at a meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Centre. Some members considered the question more serious than others, and finally it was decided to write to the New Zealand Bowling Council asking for a definition of the word “trophy.’’ “We are a guilty club,” said Mr, W. Healy, representing the Kaiapoi Working Men’s Club. “We gave 12 ducklings as prizes. If it is not permissible, then a motion should be put through prohibiting the practice.” Another delegate said that he had seen nothing wrong with, the practice. He had played in the Rakaia bowling tournament once and won four turkeys. Mr. G. W. C, Smithgon said that ducklings, geese and fowls were not trophies. The only definition of a trophy was something that could be engraved, Dominion rules were strict on the point.
