MEASURES TAKEN IN BRITAIN.
SUBSIDY GIVEN BY THE STATE.

Rec. 5,5 p.m. London, April 8. In districts which experienced a water shortage during last summer’s drought measures are being taken with, in many cases. Government assistance to prevent a recurrence. State grants had been made in rural localities for approved schemes with a total capital of £3,200,000 affecting 1100 parishes. The average total rainfall of Britain for the last six months was above. the average and the temporary legislation, which remains in force until the end of the present year, places urban water undertakings in a good position to obtain additional supplies should the necessity arise.
