CHANGES NOT LIKELY

NORTH TARANAKI BOARDS HARBOUR AND HOSPITAL CONTROL. FEW RETIREMENTS EXPECTED. INGLEWOOD BOROUGH ELECTION. In the great majority of cages sitting members of the Taranaki Hospital Board and New Plymouth Harbour Board will seek re-election to those bodies at elections on May 8 which are held at the same time as those of borough councils. The New Plymouth borough representatives on the hospital board, Messrs. P. E. Stainton, E. R. C, Gilmour, E. B. Davis and R. J. Deare will definitely stand again, and Mr. J. Brown, a'former member of the board, as wag announced yesterday, will also seek election. It ig also anticipated that Mr. B. Thorne will contest a seat.

It is expected that the country representatives on the board will all stand for election again. They are Messrs. A. J. Brennan (Opunake), J. Young (Oaonui), A. Corkill (Tarata), J. Gibbs (Inglewood), H, Blyde (Lepperton), C, Barnett (Waitara) and S. Vickers (Omata). Messrs. Young, Blyde, Barnett and Vickers yesterday signified their definite intention of standing, No other country candidates have yet given notice of their intention to accept nomination. A change on the harbour board, however, seems likely as the result of the probable retirement of Mr. C. H. Burgess, which has been repeatedly mentioned. Messrs. C. E. Bellringer and J. H. H. Holm, the retiring representative? of the New Plymouth borough, yesterday stated that they would be standing again. Other representatives who intimated that they would stand are Messrs. W. T. Wells (Manaia), J. L. Campbell (Eltham), E. Maxwell (Rahotu), and H. C. Taylor (Ngaere). It has been suggested that either Mr. W. Hall or Mr.. C. H. Sorenson may seek election if Mr. Burgess retires, but no confirmation of the report has been received. Others mentioned by rumour as probable candidates were Messrs. H. E. Blyde and S. Vickers,' but both denied last night that they had any intention of standing. As far as is at present known all sitting members of the Taranaki County Council, will offer themselves for reelection. The chairman, Mr. S. Vickers, said last night that he had had no information to the contrary. No other names have yet been mentioned as likely candidates. Interviewed at the meeting of the Inglewood Borough Council last night, sitting members stated that they were all likely to be nominated for a further term. The intention of the Mayor, Mr. J. Gibbs, who is at present ill in a New Plymouth hospital, is not known—either in regard to the Inglewood Mayoralty or his seat on the Taranaki Hospital Board. One or two names have been mentioned as possible Mayoral candidates at Inglewood, but as yet nothing definite has been done.
