ALPINE CLUB TRIP

ARARATA TO LAKE ROTOKARE. Under the leadership of Mr. H. Roberts, a party of 12 members of the Mount Egmont Alpine Club on Sunday tramped from Ararata to Lake Rotokane and back. Conditions for the trip were good and the extensive nature of the damage caused by floods in the back-coun-try made it doubly interesting. . The party left Hawera early in the morning and proceeded by car to the end Of Makino Road. From there, members climbed the hills and ridges to the lake, where a halt for lunch was made. The climbers then proceeded to the Trig Station Hill, the highest point of the hills at the back of Ararata, and walked down the valley to the cars.. The trip was about five or six miles in all, but, owing to the hills, some of the climbing, being steep though hot difficult, was fairly strenuous.
