The police guarded all roads leading from Napier to-day in an effort to rearrest Charles William Price, who escaped at 10.40 a.m. from the Napier gaol, where he was awaiting trial on a charge of murdering Evelyn Mary Madden at Argyll East, Waipawa, early last February. . Price was later recaptured in the hills eight miles west of Napier. Price was to have appeared in court on Thursday, but during the temporary absence of a warder he mounted the roof of the prison and jumped to the roadway.
