Hirota, for Japan, Mr. Tinge, Minister for Manchukuo, and Mr. Yuranev, Ambassador for the Soviet, formally signed the documents for the sale of the Chinese-Eastern Railway to Manchukuo. Mr. Tinge handed M. Yuranev a cheque for 23,400,000 yen. Mr. Hirota said the agreement was of far-reaching importance in the East Asian world in the direction of peace. He predicted that the amity of the three Powers would lead to a solution of other questions if they were dealt with in a similar conciliatory manner. Mr. Tinge expressed similar sentiments and added that the agreement strengthened the good relationships between the Soviet and Manchukuo.
