DEATH IN AMBULANCE
FATALITY ON OHURA ROAD. LORRY AND CYCLE COLLIDE, Thrown violently tb the road when the motor-cycle he was riding grazed a lorry on the road to Ohura at 8.30 o’clock on Thursday night, Mr. Harold Carter, aged 22, a Matiere resident, died later from the injuries he received. Mr. Carter was riding to the town, and the accident occurred he met the lorry, which was driven by Mr. N, Mar-? gan, Matiere, at a point about two miles from Ohura. Mr, Carter apparently misjudged hi? clearance and the handlebar of the motor-cycle struck the body of the lorry.
Dr. Copham, Ohura, and the police were immediately called. When the doctor arrived Mr. Carter was unconscious and showing symptoms of severe concussion. The ambulance was called from Taumarunui, but Mr. Carter died while being taken to hospital.
