Mrs. C. A. Smith and Mrs. ,T. H. Sinclair are spending a camping holiday in the north.

Miss D. Wan has returned from a holiday at Auckland. Mrs. .T, B. Fouhy was hostess at afternoon tea on Tuesday. Miss H. Thom was hostess at a musical evening on Wednesday. Items were given by Mr., Mrs. and Miss Mackie (Otakeho), Mrs. T. L. Watt, Miss Thom and Messrs. D. Richards and C. H. Marcroft.

In ideal weather the Opunake Women’s Golf Club opened its season last Saturday. Mrs. C. H. Marcroft, president, welcomed visitors and old and new members. A foursome was won by Mrs. F. Hammond and Miss Norah Smith. Among those present were Mesdames R. J. Morris, C. H. Marcroft, J. P. Burton, R. McGregor (Kaponga), F. Hammond, J. Morris, H. Parkes, R. Ritchie, W. Sharp, E. Griffin, D. Fraser, Cathie, Thomas, Misses Trotter, Geary, Anderson, N. Smith, Cate, Butler, P. Fleming, Bowater.

At the opening of the Opunake Women’s Golf Club on Saturday Mrs. R. J. Morris was presented with a small gift in appreciation of her many services to the club. Mrs. C. H. Marcroft said that since the club’s inception Mrs. Morris had been either president, captain or secretary and as she had declined re-election this year members and past members felt they would like to show their appreciation in some small way. Mrs. Marcroft expressed the best wishes of the members to Mrs. Morris and the hope that she would long remain a member of the club. Mrs. Morris said that what little she had done had been a pleasure.
