NEW AIR LINE PLAN
ENTERPRISE OF JAPANESE. TRADE WITH EAST INDIES. Tokio, March 14. Presaging a commercial invasion of the Dutch East Indies, and coinciding with the cuts in steamer freights, Japanese in Batavia have asked the Japanese Government to establish an air mail service. They point out that the Netherlands Government’s restrictive measures against Japanese commercial interests require to be effectively combated with air lines. Closer economic co-operation between Japan and Siam is interpreted from a Bangkok contract with Japanese concerns to build railways and bridges. Japan successfully outbid nine nationalities, including Britain, America and France.
