ANNUAL -MEETING OF SOCIETY. PROPOSAL FOR A LIBRARY. The twenty-first annual meeting of the Otangiwai Hall Society was held last Friday, Mr. E. Fauchelle presiding over a large attendance. The report showed the largest credit balance for many years, £l6 3s 3d, compared with £l2 for the last financial year. The fact that the credit had not risen by a very large sum was mainly because the committee still had several commitments connected with the supper room built last year. Most of the profits from the Easter Monday dance were again handed to the Otangiwai school committee. The Boxing Day picnic resulted in a profit of £2 Os 4d. Takings from winter card parties showed an increase compared with those of the previous year. A sum of £2 15s, the profits of the card evening against the Matiere people, was handed to the Ohura show committee as a contribution from the people of Otangiwai towards the building of the cattle shed. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. E. Fauchelle; secretary and treasurer, Mr. T. B. R. Julian; auditor, Mr. E. Sowry; committee, Messrs. E. C. Thomas, W. Ritchie, C. McDougall, H. Fauchelle, B. Wildbore and P. McDougall. It was decided to hold the first flag five-hundred evening on April 5. A proposal to form a circulating library was discussed but it was decided to postpone a decision until the secretary could give estimates for the cost of approximately 200 books and the erection of a book cupboard. A resolution was passed fixing the entry fee at 5s and the annual subscription at 5s if it were found practicable to form a library. i Flag Five-Hundred. Another flag five-hundred evening to raise money for school handwork materials was held in the Otangiwai hall on Friday. evening, when 11 tables were in play. The winning table was occupied ’by Messrs. W. Rutherford, J. Passmore and' R. Julian (25 flags). Consolation prizes were won by Mesdames Lindsay, L. S. Fauchelle, R. Etherington and Mr. G. Rhynd. After supper Mrs. E. C. Thomas and Miss N. Higgle played for the dancers, Mr. C. McDougall acting as master of ceremonies. ' INTER-CLUB TENNIS GAME. METHODIST BEATS CARDIFF. Methodist beat Cardiff in a non-com-petition tennis match at the Methodist courts yesterday by 14 sets, 106 games, to 10 sets, 86 games. Mrs. Eleanor Naim, an elderly married woman living at Kohuratahi, slipped on a tussock in the Kohuratahi railway yard yesterday and injured her back. She was brought to Stratford by train in charge of Nurse D. Workman, Whangamomona, and was admitted to the public hospital. ADVERTISERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS.
