At. the inquest on George Henry Davis, a clerk who was found hanged in a cell at the Lopg Bay gaol, the police stated that on Davis’ release from the Bathurst gaol last year detectives obtained em-plr—-"nt for him with a city firm and he promised to reform. The firm- was very pleased with Davis’ work, but subsequently he commenced to rob his employers and was arrested. The jury recorded a verdict of suicide with no blame attachable to the gaol officials. The ■ coroner said that Davis probably was overcome by remorse.
