SENTENCE OF DEATH
SHOOTING WITH MURDER INTENT. NEW SOUTH WALES CONVICTION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright, Rec. 10.40 p.m. Sydney, March 21. James Lucas, aged 46, was sentenced to death in the Sydney Criminal Court today for maliciously wounding Constable Arthurson with intent to murder at Bargo, near Goulbum, on January 6. Constable Arthurson, who is now alrnbst recovered from the bullet wound he received, disturbed two men robbing a shop and challenged them to put up their hands, upon which he was shot, allegedly by Lucas, who was later arrested.
