GOOD SEASON REPORTED. OFFICERS ELECTED FOR YEAR. The report of the Te Ngutu Golf Club presented at the annual meeting on Tuesday night, said that the financial position necessitated very careful administration by the committee. There was a email credit balance, and the committee was prompted to submit a proposal to raise the subscriptions. The activities of the club were maintained, owing in a large measure to the enthusiasm and pleasant co-operation of members and officers, and the efficient services of the club captains, Miss E. O’Dowd and Mr. G. S. Todd, and the greens committee, Messrs. H. R. Penny and C. Evetts. The membership comprised 37 men and 43 women, compared with 39 men and 45 women the previous year. Many good matches were played with neighbouring clubs, and interest was maintained by a series of club fixtures. The senior championship was won by Mr. G. Good, with Mr. •H. R. Penny runner-up; junior championship by Mr. G. S. Graydon, with Mr. E. Oldfield runner-up; the Stevenson Cup by Mr. R. Green, with Mr. G. Barclay runner-up; the Crawford tankard (best pair) by Messrs. T. Betts and H. Evetts; the Dewar Challenge Cup by Mr. G. Good, with Mr. I. Crawford runnerup; the women’s senior championship, Bennet and Sutton rose bowl and Fraser Cup by Miss E. O’Dowd, Miss J. Joyce runner-up in the senior championship; junior championship by Miss J. O’Sullivan, with Mrs. G. Barclay runner-up; Miss Alice Betts’ trophy (non-handicap players) by Miss Audrey Betts; Miss J. Joyce’s trophy by Mrs. Mack; Misses O’Dowd’s trophy (one-club match) by Mrs. G. Good; married couple’s trophy (given by Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Penny), by Mr. and Mrs. G. Good. The report recorded the indebtedness of the club to Messrs. Harris Bros, for the privilege of playing on their propetty, to donors of prizes, and to others who had helped the club, including Mr. H. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patroness, Mrs. Harris; president, Mr. O. Robertson; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. C. Barclay and E. Luxton; club captain, Mr, H. R. Penny; secretary, Mr. Treeweek. The retiring members of the committee were returned en bloc. It was decided to hold the opening day on March 30 and that subscriptions should remain at the same amount as last year. At a subsequent committee meeting Messrs. Todd and S. Hollis were appointed to arrange a table for handicap play. Officers elected were: Handicappers, Messr-c, Evetts and Luxton; greens committee, Messrs. Evetts and O. Robertson; match committee, Messrs. Penny and Todd; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R-. C. Treweek; executive, Messrs. O. Robertson, J. C. Barclay and Treweek. Mr. H. Evetts was re-engaged as greenkeeper. Four members were elected. COMBINED VESTRIES. 'QUEEN CARNIVAL ARRANGED. A combined meeting of vestries was held at Te Kiri last Friday night. There were about 35 members present. The Rev. J. A. Famell presided. It was decided to hold a queen carnival, the coronation to be arranged at a later meeting. The queen candidates are to be elected from each of the following five centres with the cost of votes in proportion: Opunake, 6d; Oaonui, 2d, Pihama, 2d; Te Kiri-Awatuna-Makaka, 2d; Kaponga-Riverlea-Rowan, 4d. Mr. C. A. Corder was appointed organising secretary.
