GATHERING AT KOHURATAHI.
RECORD ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR.
The record attendance at the Kohura-tahi-Whitianga sports meeting on Thursday was a tribute to the reputation of the organisers of the attractive programme. The weather could hardly have been improved and the site on Mr. W. West’s property was ideal for a sports gathering. There was a good number of entries. The committee expressed its thanks to Mr. West for the use of his paddock and the interest he took in the helpers. Results of the events were:— Baby show: Under six months, Adrienne Hight 1; six months to 16 months, John Aylward 1, Douglas Dean 2. Single women’s race: Miss J. Marr 1, Miss E. Smith 2. Married women under 30: Mrs. Rout and Mrs. Murphy equal 1. Married women over 30: Mrs. J. Anderson 1, Mrs. C. McCutchan 2. Girls’ race: Miss Joan Marshall 1, Miss Mavis Pope 2. Goal kicking: B. O’Dea. Tossing sheaf: E. Spencer. Boys’ cycle race: F. Better 1, C. Washer 2. Women’s nail-driving: Mrs. W. Murphy. Men’s nail-driving: Mr. C. McCutchan. Sheep weight guessing: Miss E. West (women), G. Law (men). Shooting: R. Stewart (men), Mrs. E. Clarke (women). Egg and spoon race: Miss J. Marshall 1, Mrs. Rout 2. Hop, step and jump: P. Callaghan. One mile run: J. Quin 1, B. Cleland 2. 440 yards run: W. H. Powell 1, M. Knox 2. 220 yards: E. Cleland 1, W. H. Powell 2. A 100 yards: G. Law 1, W. H. Powell 2. Boys pony jump: M. McCartie 1, B. McCutchan 2. Open jump: J.
