WHEAT MARKETING
AUSTRALIAN RECOMMENDATIONS. HOME PRICE FINANCED BY DUTY. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Canberra, March 13. The Wheat Commission’s recommendations, which were before the Federal Ministerial Party to-day, suggest that immediate action should be taken to create a home consumption price for wheat and .a compulsory marketing scheme. The home consumption price is to be financed by an excise duty on flour. This procedure is already in operation in connection with the current harvest. Boards to administer the marketing and the home consumption price are recommended by the commission, which also suggests that groups of farmers be assisted to obtain machinery and helped to reduce overhead costs. The commission’s report will come before the Australian Agricultural Council in April.
