BIG BAND GALA DAY
BRASS AND PIPE CONTEST. Arrangements are now well forward for the annual contest of the Taranaki Brass and Pipe Band Union, which is to be held on Victoria Park, Stratford, on Thursday next. i Good entries have been received, and there is evidence that competition will be keen. There will be four contestants in the B grade selection, Manaia having nominated for this in addition to Stratford, Hawera and New Plymouth Regi-mental-Municipal. Special trains have been arranged, with cheap excursion fares, including the east line as far as Tangarakau. Tickets at the cheap rate can be used. on all trains from the south during the day, including the evening mail train. For the evening session, when the bands will play their selections, the new flood-lighting which was so satisfactory at the recent athletic meeting, will be I Used. I
