FLOWER OF THE NIGHT.—A flower of the night-blooming cactus of the cereus variety, which opened at Wellington at 9 o’clock. The cactus, which is growing in a 7in. pot, was brought to New Zealand by Dr. O. EarpThomas, Wellington, when he returned from the Hawaiian Islands some years ago. The hand gives an idea of the size of the bloom, which is very short-lived.
