AGREEMENT REACHED
CARPENTERS AND CONTRACTORS.
VARIATION MADE TO AWARD.

A complete agreement on the subject of working hours and overtime rates was reached by the Conciliation Council today in the dispute between the New Zealand Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Jojners’ Industrial Association of Workers and the New Zealand Federated Builders and Contractors’ Industrial Association of Employers. Rates of pay were fixed at 2s Id per hour, the hours of work to be the same as in the existing award. The overtime rate will be time and a-quarter for the first three hours. Improvers’ pay is increased to Is 6d per hour, the agreement to take effect from April 5.
