ABATTOIR STRIKE
HEAVY COST IN QUEENSLAND. EFFECT ON CHILLED BEEF TRADE. By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. Brisbane, March 6. Tire abattoir strike, which has lasted three weeks, has already cost the State about £78,000. The strike is having a serious effect on the chilled meat industry. Five ships have been turned away without freights. The stoppage of supplies of chilled beef in the early stages of the development of this trade is expected to do inestimable damage in the United Kingdom; where guaranteed continuity of supplies is essential. - •
