DANCE AND EUCHRE PARTY. A successful dance and euchre party was held in the Tariki hall on Tuesday for the “Pink” candidate in the queen carnival conducted by Midhirst women’s division. Dance music was played by Hooker’s Merrymakers, with extras by Mrs. S. Walker and Messrs. S. Gordon and T. Wright. The master of' ceremonies was Mr. H. Gush. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by'Mr. I. McCullum (Tariki) and Mrs. Wilkes (Stratford). Euchre prizes were won by Mrs. Jacobson (Midhirst), Mrs. Aagaard (Stratford), Miss P. Morrison (Ingewood), Mrs. Robson (Stratford) and Mrs. W. Clarke (Midhirst); Mr. T. Wright (Tariki), Mr. G. Davis (Rugby Road), Mr.’G. .Kaspar (Waipuku), Mr. A. R. Thompson and Mr. P. Kelihy.

Flood Damage. Mr. T. Therkleson was a heavy loser as a result of the recent floods. In addition to the destruction of his well-kept gardens and tobacco plantation, he lost about 30 head of poultry. Other heavy losers were Mr. J. Mahon, senr., and Mr. W. Thompson, Tariki Road, who lost a large number of pigs. Mr. Reg. James lost a large concrete bridge only recently constructed at a cost of £3OO. Almost every farmer in the district has suffered loss in some way. Personal Items.

Mr. and Mrs. L. Loveridge are on holiday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Marr have come to Tariki to live.

Mrs. W. Jemison is making satisfactory progress since being discharged from hospital. The local school picnic had to be postponed owing to the weather, but is to be held shortly, • ''
