WAITARA BEATS WEST END. Waitara beat West End by nine runs in a one-innings primary school cricket match played at Waitara yesterday. West End’s second innings realised 17 but there was no time to continue. West End batted first to score -54 (Priest 25, Elder 22). Green took five wickets, Chadwick three and Emia two. W6itara was still six runs behind when the eighth wicket fell but the final batsmen added 15 runs. Preston was not out with 22 and Smart scored 11. Priest took five wickets, Elder three and Hoskin two. Waitara bowlers held the upper hand in West End’s second innings. Emia, Green and Chadwick each taking three wickets. Priest made 6, and Bennett and Bailey 4 each.
