SHOW AT AWATUNA

JUDGING OF DAIRY CATTLE. LIST OF THE AWARDS MADE. The Awatuna-TeKiri-Riverlea Farmers’ Union held a show of dairy cattle at Mr. D. .Graham’s property, Awatuna, on Saturday. There was good competition in each class and the display of cattle was instructive to a large gathering 'of farmers. Mr. H. •’ E. Johnson was judge of the dairy cattle on type. There were also good entries in the horse classes, for which Mr. W. H. Reynolds was judge, in the' absence of Mr. L. Bremer, Pukengahu, who was unable to attend owing to slips on the road preventing him leaving his home. At the conclusion Mr. Agnew thanked the judges for their assistance. The ■: show was conducted by Mr. S. Agnew, president, Mr. T., McCarrison, secretary, and an energetic committee of officials. A committee of ladies provided refreshments at the hall. The dairy cow championship was awarded to Mr. J. H. Phillips. Other awards were:— Aged bull: J. F. Shepherd 1, B. S. Coupe 2, R. Willing 3. Four entries. Two-year-old bulls: T. Holdom 1, J. F. Coupe 2 and 3. Three-year-old cow in milk: J. H. Phillips 1, J. Muggeridge 2, B. S. Coupe X Two-year-old heifer in milk: J. H. Phillips 1 and 2. Eighteen months’ heifers (pair): J. F. Shepherd 1, B. S. Coupe 2, H. Davison 3. Eighteen-months heifer: B. S. Coupe 1, J. Muggeridge 2, J. F. Shepherd 3. Heifer calf: R. Willing 1, J. H. Phillips 2, J. F. Shepherd 3. Children’s calf: Reg Willing 1, Warren Pepperell 2, Elsie Phillips 3. Children’s cow-judging competition: Molly Davison 1, Reggie Hooper 2. One-ton spring cart horse: S. Farquhar 1, S. Beer 2, J.
