FIGHT ON A TRAIN
WIN FOR A DETECTIVE. A stand-up fight for more than a mile in a swaying brake van as the train sped toward Goulbum, New South Wales, occurred between a rattler jumper and Railway-detective Baxter, when the latter found a man hiding on a goods train, en route to Goulbum, recently. The detective won the contest, and at .the Police Court subsequently a man was fined £5, or 10 days’ imprisonment, tor trespassing on railway property. Detective Baxter said that he had to dodge several blows aimed at him with a wine bottle, and if one had connected he would have been seriously injured.
