UNLUCKY SILVER RING

• Since returning to New Zealand after hie victorious spring racing campaign in Australia, bad luck has dogged Silver Ring’s footsteps. At Riccatton Some weeks ago he fell heavily during a training gallop when appearing to be approaching racing form. Silver Ring made a quick recovery from that mishap, and prior to the Dunedin carnival had been showing glimpses of his brilliance over four furlong sprints at Riccarton. With 10.2 Silver Ring was set a tremendous task in the Publicans’ Handicap the first day at Wingatui, even had he been back to peak form. However, as luck would have.it the Ronthern champion sprinter lost all Chances through a mishap in the running. Silver Ring received slight injuries which prevented his defending his title against Nightly in the Hazlett Memorial mile on the concluding day at Wingatui. Fortunately, it is not expected that Silver Ring will suffer any ill effects from his Dunedin mishap, and there seems to be every prospect of the Silverado gelding taking a prominent part in coming important autumn events. Silver Ring has also been nominated for important Australian autumn racOs.
