HERITAGE WILL BE FANCIED
Prior to the appearance of Heritage at Trentham late in January the veteran Woodville trainer Fred Davis said his stable was sheltering the fastest two-year-old of the season. The appearance of Mr. W. H. Gaisford’s .Posterity colt-at Trentham occasioned considerable interest, and after running 7 greenly in the Fitzherbert Handicap on the opening day, Heritage fulfilled all the good things said about him by running away with the Hopeful Stakes on the third day at Trentham. Among the beaten division that afternoon were Bun Fight and Penelope, two of the fastest juveniles at present in the South Island. When Commendation was in his prime Mr. Gaisford was one of the most successful of the Dominion’s owners, and it appears as if Heritage - is likely to follow in Commendation’s footsteps. Heritage’s next outing is likely to be in the Sapling Stakes at Woodville to-day and a repetition of his Trentham form would make him very difficult to beat Excepting Il Duce, who also ran well at Trentham, the opposition does not include any well-performed youngsters.
