Through an indirect channel news has reached the British Legation that the Auckland missionary, Mr. A. Hayman, and Mr. R. A. Bosshardt, his Swiss companion, are still in the Hunan province where they were taken soon after their capture by bandits in the Kweichow province last autumn. This is the first word regarding the captives which has been received for some time. In addition to making strong representations to the Nanking authorities the legation has sent its assistant military attache, Lieutenant Millar, to Changsha in order to maintain contact with the Governor of Hunan.
