SUGAR AGREEMENT
EXTENSION IN NEW SOUTH WALES. MORE HELP TO FRUIT INDUSTRYBy Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 5.0 p.m. Melbourne, Feb. 21. The Prime Minister. Mr. J. A. Lyons, announced to-day that the Government had decided to extend the sugar agreement for five years from September 1> 1936, the date on which it would expire in the normal course. Existing prices will apply to the new agreement. The Government has decided that the sugar industry shall increase its annual contribution for special rebates and assistance to the fruit Industry to £216,000 punds, an increase of £16,000.
