MEETING OF DOG TRIAL CLUB. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS. The 18th annual meeting of the Waverley Sheep Dog Trial Club was held on Saturday. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the chairman congratulated the members on the financial position of the club and thanked the members and friends who had assisted in making the trials a success, also those who had donated trophies. It was decided to hold the trials on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 17, 18 and 19. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. J. E. Palmer; president, Mr. W. H. Watkins; vice-presi-dents, 14 elected; field marshal, Mr. J. J. Johnston; time-keeper, Mr. F. Jeffery; dog stewards, Messrs. D. Walker and J. Tuffin; judge, Mr. S. Aiken; ground, Messrs. W. JI. Watkins and J. J. Johnston; sheep-guessing, Messrs. G. Paddison and G. Walker; hon. auditor, Mr. J. C. Grey; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. W. James; sheep stewards, Messrs. D. Walker and G. Lupton; emergency committee, Messrs. J. E. Palmer, F, Jeffery, W. H. Watkin, G. Aiken, G. Lupton and J. J. Johnston; ground and yard stewards, Messrs. A. L. Elmslie, D. Lupton, G. Spratt, J. A. Aiken, E. Aiken, E. Benson, S. Barclay, D. G. Thompson, J. Lupton, junr., S. Snushall, J. Lupton, senr., P. Bremer, G. Lupton, P. and J. Elmslie, J. C. Brown and P. English; mounted steward, Mr. E. Benson. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr. T. Riley, Eltham, asking him to judge the maiden huntaway, and to request Mr. C. H. Scott, Whenuakura, to judge classes 1 and 2. It was decided that the prize money be the same as last year and that the stock agents and buyers’ event be run in conjunction with the huntaway. Messrs. M. M. Scott and P. Forrester were elected delegates. Mr. P. Forrester is to interview Mr. W. Simpson regarding grounds. The secretary was granted an honorarium of £5 for his services.

Waverley Plunket Society. The committee of the Waverley Plunket Society on Monday held the first meeting of the year, the following being present: Mesdames Mulholland (president), Currie (secretary), D. Lupton, Boyne, Berridge, J. J. Johnston, Shearman and Miss Cheyne. The nurse reported for December and January. Mrs. Mulholland informed the committee. that a cupboard had been given to be used for holding writing materials, literature and stock. The cupboard was given by Mrs. H. Heginbotham, and she received a hearty vote of thanks. It was arranged to hold a meeting on Friday, when a deputation from Patea will be present. JERSEY CATTLE CLUB. FIELD DAY AT KAPONGA. The annual field day under the auspices of the Kaponga Jersey Cattle Club is to be held this year on March .28, according to a decision reached at a general meeting of the club on Friday. The president, Mr. S. J. Hollard, presided over a good attendance. An innovation this year will be the inclusion of a pig section. The schedule was discussed and brought up to date. Offers of trophies for the horse classes were received from Messrs. S. Lissaman, D. P. Malone, A. E. Gallagher and J. H. Tyack. WAITOTARA NEWS. DISTRICT PERSONAL ITEMS. Miss Eva Parkinson, who has spent several months at Melbourne and Sydney, has returned. Mrs. C. Handley, Nukumaru, and Mrs. F. Train, snr., are visiting Mrs. C. Gault, Wellington. Mr. W. Warren has returned and has taken up his duties at the Waitotara Post Office.

Mr. McKeen, who has been relieving at the post office, has returned to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. F. Laird, who have been on a motor tour of the north, paid a short visit to Mr. and Mrs. J. Laird on their return to Wellington.

Mrs. Bublitz, Stratford, was the guest of Mrs. A. Hurley for the week-end. Mrs. Armstrong and Miss Armstrong motored to Levin during the week-end. Miss Dorothy Blackie, who broke her arm when she fell off a bicycle, is making good progress. The Waitotara Anglican Sunday school held its annual picnic at the Waverley beach on Saturday. Tire weather was fine and an enjoyable day was spent by the children and parents. Games, races and a sandcastle competition proved popular. PATEA PLUNKET WORK. NURSE SUBMITS REPORTS. The nurse’s reports for December and January were submitted to the committee of the Patea branch of the Plunket Society last week as follows:— December: Babies on books, Patea 6, older children 6; outstations 126, older children 66; new cases Patea, mothers 7, babies 7; outstations, mothers 3, babies 3; visits to office, Patea 5 days, outstations 15 days; visits to rooms Patea, old 40, new 1; outstations, old 1, new' 1; visits to homes Patea, adults 95, babies 83, older children 33; outstations, adults 131, babies 117, older children 44; sales £8 2s 6d.

ADVERTISERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS. The Te Roti settlers’ and school picnic will be held in the Te Ngutu Domain tomorrow. There will be a dance in the Te Roti hall in the evening. The Hawera Borough Council notifies that proceedings will be taken in respect of all rates not paid by March 7. Smith and Trim, Ltd., Hawera, advertise particulars of their mart sales for to-day. They will sell 300 cases of assorted fruit in variety at 10.30 a.m. and poultry, a garage door, good furniture and sundries, removed to mart for the convenience of sale, and a small quantity of drapery, etc., at 1.30 p.m.j followed bv the balance of the fruit
