PEDIGREE DOGS

PARADE AT NEW PLYMOUTH. MEETING OF THE KENNEL CLUB. Literally under the noses of a dozen finely bred dogs of various breeds Mr. Mac Robertsori’s Pekinese, Ming Wong, last night carried off one of the miniature cups awarded by the New Plymouth Kennel Club to each winner in a series of match parades to be held this year. Mr. A. T. Moore judged the entries. In opening the meeting the president of the club, Mr. R. L. Cooper, said he was pleased with the attendance. The wet weather was good for the farmers and for the dogs, because they had been feeling the heat. However, it deterred some competitors from bringing their entries along. The parade was the second of a series and Mr. Cooper outlined the System of judging. The dogs were numbered and drawn in pairs and the winners matched until the best dog was selected. The best dog would later compete with the finalists in the other parades of the series for the champion and runner-up cup. The parade was open to all breeds. Mr. Cooper thanked Mr. Moore for judging the dogs and Mr. Copestajre for managing the entries. Details of the matches were:—

First round: Loudon’s wire-haired terrier Tea Time of Tintem beat Lawson’s fox terrier Frankley Vicinity; Beer’s spaniel Austral Ben beat Lawson’s fox terrier FrankJey Nobility; Robertson’S Pekinese Ming Wong beat Lawson’s fox terrier Mirider Masher; Lawson’s Pekinese San Tan Wong beat Copestake’s setter Rapanui Joan; Bethell’s spaniel Avondale Bruce beat Ellison’s fox terrier Spot; Meuli’s bulldog Naughty Poi beat Beer’s spaniel Princess of Kaiwaroa; Webster’s airedale Bob a bye.

Second round: Bethell’s spaniel Avondale Bruce beat Webster’s airedale Bob; Robertson’s Pekinese Ming Wong beat Loudon’s wire haired terrier Tea Time of Tintern; Lawson’s Pekinese San Tan Wong beat Meuli’s bulldog Naughty Poi. Semi-final: Beer's spaniel Austral Ben beat Bethell’s spaniel Avondale Bruce; Robertson’s pekinese Ming Wong beat Lawson’s pekinese San Tan Wong. Final: Robertson’s pekinese Mink Wong beat Beer’s spaniel Austral Ben.
