Brisbane, Feb. 20. , In the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and New South Wales the former, which made 248 in its first innings, in the second made 281 (Bensted 71, Hanson 25, Levy 35, Gilbert 34 not out; Theak 'three for 54, Chilvers six for 124). New South' Wales, which made 223 and 357, won by 28 runs. At Adelaide Victoria, which made 200 in the first innings against South Australia, in the second made 208 (O’Brien 55, Rigg 56, Darling 53, Scaife 56, Barnett 35, Ebeling 25; Tobin One for 39, Collins two for 82, Grimmett three for 98, Lee two for 54). South Australia, which made 200 and 415, won by, 107 runs. This is the only defeat suffered by Victoria, the Sheffield Shield wihnCrs, in the series. Following are the positions of the States in the Sheffield Shield matches:— Pts. Victoria 25 New South Wales South Australia W Queensland ° Tie possible was 30 points. Darling (Victoria) heads the batting averages with 70.45 followed by O Brien (Victoria) with 54.36. Gilbert (Queensland) leads the bowling with an average of 18.21. Chilvefo (New South Wales) was second with 18.82. Fleetwood-Smith (Victoria) took most wickets, 63.
