DEFECTIVE EYESIGHT

WHITE PAPER NOT HARMFUL. VIEW OF EXPERT OPINION. The report of Dr. Ada Paterson seemed to make it clear that there was little or no authoritative opinion in favour of the use of tinted rather than white paper for school work; on the contrary the weight of expert evidence available was rather definitely in opposition to it, replied Mr. Ashbridge, secretary of the New Zealand Educational Institute, to the Taranaki Education Board in reference to a report regarding school writing paper and defective eyesight drawn up by Mr. C. H. Moore, the board’s architect .and forwarded to the institute for consideration.

In view of that opinion the executive felt that it could not be justified in asking for any change. The executive, however, wished to express its appreciation both of the interest Mr. Moore had shown in the improvement of the school environment and of. the action of the board in bringing the matter before it.
