HURWORTH PICNIC

DISTRICT PERSONAL ITEMS. j A picnic organised by .the Hurworth branch of the Women’s Division, of the Farmers’ Union was held at the Fitzroy beach on Saturday, and, .despite the wind, proved an enjoyable outing. The children were well catered for in bathing, donkey rides, swings, etc. A peanut hunt and dry bun eating competition created a lot of amusement. During the luncheon adjournment, opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs. F. H. Harrison, Frankley Road, who is leaving to live at Wanganui. The president, Mis. Baker, . voiced the general regret at her departure and presented her with a brass tray. Mrs. Harrison replied. During the afternoon races were held on the wet sand. The following were the winners. Wood, sen. and Mr. and Mrs. R. Wood, jnr. are spending a holiday at Ngamotu Beach. Mr. and Mrs. W. Adlar- motored through to Palmerston North. Mrs. W. Eva, an inmate of the Naw ■ Plymouth Hospital, is making satisfactory progress. Misses. J. Harrison and A. Smith are camping at Oakura.
