TOWN HOARDINGS
ERECTION TO BE PERMITTED. REGULATIONS AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Certain regulations, drawn up by a sub-committee, governing the erection and maintenance in a fit condition of advertising hoardings at New Plymouth were adopted last night at the monthly meeting of the borough council. All applications must be accompanied by plans, specifications and other information and by a written report from the chief inspector. The council will consider each request on its merits and will pay special attention to the proposed location, the nature of the site, the type of hoarding, its effect on visibility for traffic, and, in residential quarters, upon the harmony of the surroundings.. The chief inspector will .be instructed to make regular inspections of all hoardings and make certain they are in a proper condition. Paper washed or scraped off will not be allowed to remain round them. In view of the dilapidated state of the hoardings on a reserve, the council ordered their removal and the cancellation of the license of the company.
