DOUGLAS WENS AGAIN
PETRIE SHIELD TENNIS. HUINGA VISITORS EASILY BEATEN. Losing only one set, Douglas continued its winning way in the Saturday section of the Petrie Shield tennis competition by defeating Huinga at Douglas on Saturday. The home team won by 15 sets (94 games) to 1 (38). Six men and six women from Huinga visited Douglas, the extra two men and two women playing friendly games with Douglas members. Most of the competition sets were won easily and by big margins. Details of the scores, with Douglas names mentioned first, are:— Women’s singles: Mrs. H. Rumball beat Mi-gg Lansdowne 6—o, Mrs. A. Walter beat Mrs. Henderson 6—l, Mrs. P. Skousgaard beat Mrs. Marfell 6—2, Miss M. Rodgers beat Mrs. Anderson 6—2. Men’s singles: E. Walter beat R. Anderson 6—l, J. Walter beat H. Henderson 6-1, H. Wilmshurst beat T. Kelly 6—4, C. Wilmshurst beat L. Knowles
Women’s doubles: Mesdames H. Rumball and A. Walter beat Miss Lansdowne and Mrs. Henderson 6 —2, Mrs. Skousgaard and Miss Rodgers beat Mrs. Marfell and Mrs. Anderson 6 —l. Men’s doubles: E. and J. Walter beat Anderson and Henderson 6—l, H. and C. Wilmshurst beat Kelly and Knowles 6—L
Combined doubles: E. Walter and Mrs. Rumball beat Anderson and Mrs. Marfell 6—3, J. Walter and Mrs. Walter beat Henderson and Mrs. Henderson 6—5, H. Wilmshurst and Mrs. Skousgaard beat Kelly and Miss Lansdowne 6—2, C. Wilmshurst and Miss Rodgers lost to Knowles and Mrs. Anderson 4—6.
