ELECTION OF NEW BOARD SEVEN MEN IN THE MIDDLE WARD. CANDIDATES FROM TARANAKI. ELECTION FIXED FOR MARCH 12. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Nominations for the election of three representatives of the dairy companies to the New Zealand Dairy Board under the Agriculture (Emergency Powers) Act closed to-day with the returning officer, Mr. G. G. Hodgkins. Five nominations have been received 1 for the northern ward, seven for the middle ward and three for the southern ward. The election will be held on March 12. The present board will be extinguished by Order-in-Council. , The nominations are as follow:— Northern Ward. Ernest George Appleton, Turiwiri, Northern Wairoa. Dermer at a meeting of dairy company delegates at Stratford on Saturday that he had it from an authoritative source that Mr. T. A. Winks, Ararata, would be a Government representative on the new Dairy Board, the Rahotu Dairy Company 'telegraphed an inquiry to the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon. G. W. Forbes. The following reply has been received:— . . “Replying your telegram, ■ no Government nominee to the Dairv Board has yet been appointed. In order to give the industry first choice in the selection of elective members the Government decided some time ago not to consider the appointment of its representatives on the board until after the results, of the election are known and this decision is being adhered to.”
