LATE MR. R. C. HUGHES
PERPETUATION OF MEMORY. WALK .TO BE NAMED AFTER HIM. The perpetuation of the memory of the late Mr. R. Clinton Hughes by naming after him one of the principal walks in Pukekura Park was considered by the park committee last night at the suggestion of the New Plymouth Borough Council. Members thought the suggestion an excellent one, but decided to hold the matter over till next meeting to enable them to make a suitable choice. It was hardly a question that could be decided that night, said the acting-chair- |\ man, Mr. F. Amoore. Members of the J' committee should walk around the park before making a decision. It was suggested that the most appropriate walk to name the “Clinton Hughes Walk” would tie that from Victoria Road tc the band rotunda, via the western side of the lower lake. A vote of sympathy with the widow and relatives of Mr. Hughes was passed by the committee. Mr. Amoore said the members had lost an old and valued friend. Mr. Hughes,’ a foundation member of the committee, had lived to a ripe old age. He had always taken an enthusiastic interest in the park. ■ ,
