Transactions on the New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday are reported by the Press Association as follow:— Wellington:—Sales: Bank of New South Wales, £3l; Mount Morgan, 40s 3d. Dunedin:—Sales: Mount Morgan, £2 0s 6d (two lots). Reported sales: Bank of New Zealand (Long D), £1 12s; Westport Coal, £1 2s; Dominion Fertiliser, £1 Is 6d; Christchurch Gas, £1 14s lOJd; Gillespie’s Beach, Is 7d; Goldfields Dredging, 9d; Upper Watut, 2s (paid 6s 6d, cum rights). PAHIATUA EWE FAIR SUCCESS. BEST IN PROVINCE FOR SEASON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Pahiatua, Feb. 12. Farmers in the Pahiatua district were all smiles yesterday after the annual ewe fair. The heavy yarding of 18,000 sheep attracted an unusually large bench of buyers. Considering the dry season and the shortage of grass, prices were remarkably good. The sheep came forward in splendid quality and condition, the top line of two -tooth ewes realising 31s 9d. Another batch of 245 brought 295. Four-year ewes realised 23s lOd and five-year ewes 21s 3d. The prices represented an advance of several shillings on those at recent sales in the surrounding districts. The general opinion is that it was the best sale in the Wellington province this season. The chief buyers were from Manawatu, Taranaki and Wanganui, one lot of 1000' -going as far as Te Awamutu. GOLD MINING RETURNS. The-Mataki return for the week ended February 10 was 270 z. for 134 hours’ work, reports the Press Association. NEW ZEALAND WOOL SALES. FIGURES FOR SEASON TO DATE.
