GREYS UNPOPULAR
In some parts of the East it would seem that grey is not a favoured colour in racehorses. A Melbourne man who in recent years has purchased many thoroughbreds for Singapore interests states that he is strictly forbidden to invest money in greys. This prejudice—if it can be called one—received a setback in the present Singapore season, when a grey performer from England proved his merit. Possibly this will cause the doubters to readjust their ideas. Colour, however, might have a great effect upon the health of horses in tropical countries owing to the absorption or the reflection of heat rays, and this, rather than prejudice, might be the cause of greys being unpopular in the Malay States.
