Gisborne, Last Night The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in most inauspicious weather. Last evening the heaviest downpour for many weeks was experienced, and heavy rain fell continuously to-day until the last race, when ' the downpour, temporarily ceased. The track was greasy and towards the end of the day the going was heavy. . The totalisator handled £2113 10s, compared with £2393 on the first day last year, a decrease of £279 10s.
